The Wall Street Journal Launches News Reader for Smartphones

Wsjdn The Wall Street Journal has launched WSJ.com Mobile Reader, a free wireless application for BlackBerry mobile devices that lets users view headlines, summaries and full articles published by The Wall Street Journal Digital Network — the newspaper's WSJ.com site along with MarketWatch.com, Barrons.com and AllThingsD.com.  The application will also let users pull content from other sources using RSS.

Scottrade Launches Social Networking Site for Investors

Scottradeoc Scottrade has officially launched Scottrade Online Community, a new social networking site aimed at its online traders.  Originally released in April to beta testers, the site lets Scottrade customers interact with each other by sharing ideas, strategies and tools through discussion groups and blogs, post videos, and participate in surveys.

Corporate Blogs vs Press Releases: It's All About Reg FD

Reuters Reuters' Robert MacMillan has written an article analyzing the press release industry's reaction to a recent Securities and Exchange Commission decision to consider corporate blogs as a primary mechanism for the disclosure of public company information.  The press release industry currently helps public companies meet Reg FD (Regulation Fair Disclosure) by ensuring wide and timely distribution of public company information when disclosed.  The article discusses the opportunity for blog aggregators to parse the blogs and organize the information.  However, we believe that it is more likely that the SEC will issue guidelines for public companies to follow in order to meet Reg FD.

Thomson Reuters to Launch Business Television News Channel

Thomsonreuters Thomson Reuters is preparing to launch a business television news channel as early as January 2009, according to the UK's Daily Telegraph.  The new channel will appear on both the Internet and cable to compete against Bloomberg and CNBC.  A multimedia newsroom in New York, which was opened yesterday by Devin Wenig, chief executive of Thomson Reuters' markets division, will serve as the main studio for the channel.

Thestreet Internet Broadcasting Systems has partnered with TheStreet.com (Nasdaq: TSCM) to distribute its business content across Internet Broadcasting's network of sites.   The strategic content distribution partnership will include stock market data as well as premium content such as articles and videos produced by TheStreet.com.

Slate's The Big Money Lands American Express and Infiniti as First Advertisers

Thebigmoney American Express and Infiniti have signed on as the first advertisers of The Big Money, a new website scheduled for a September launch.   The business-focused property from Washington Post.Newsweek Interactive (WPNI)'s Slate Group will cater to Slate Group's educated, affluent audience.  Digitas and OMD are the respective interactive agencies for American Express and Infiniti.

Business.com Network Reaches Nearly A Quarter of U.S. Internet Users

Businesscom The Business.com Network reached 44.7 million unique visitors or 24% of the nearly 190 million Americans online in June.  In the latest Ad Focus survey by comScore Media Metrix, the network ranked 43rd as it delivered business-related sponsored search listings to more than 100 partner sites that include Forbes.com, BusinessWeek.com and Entrepreneur.com.
