Yahoo Shine Focuses on Women

Shine Yahoo has launched a new website called Shine which will target women between the ages of 25 and 54.  Yahoo is partnering with media companies like Hearst Communications and Rodale to develop Shine-exclusive content.  Presented in a blog form, the website includes a career and finance section.  Dorey Devlin, formerly of Yahoo Tech, is the editor of Work+Money.

IR Magazine Names Investor Relations Winners

Irmagazine GE, Staples, Limited Brands and Life Time Fitness were named by IR Magazine for best investor relations programs by market cap.  2,000 buy-side and sell-side professionals participated in an investor perception study and chose the winners from more than 1600 publicly-traded companies.

New Twist on Financial Social Media

Website Review: We found this site on KillerStartups.comMoneyrec offers a blend of several social media community features from blogs to comments to ranking.  I signed up to get a real feel for the site and there is potential here.  The UI needs some work as it was not very clear how to use some of the features but for a web-savvy person the learning curve is short.  Like the Motley Fool's CAPS, we will see many more sites that try to tap into the social aspects of the highly-prized financial space.

Kiplinger.com Launches Car Buying Section

Kiplinger Kiplinger.com has launched a car buyer's guide on its website to complement a feature in the March 2008 issue of its magazine.  The guide will feature Kiplinger's for best cars across 11 categories as well as two new car reviews a week.  In addition, the guide will offer free price quotes through a partnership with Vehix.

Minyanville Teams Up with MySpace

Minyanville_2 Financial infotainment publisher Minyanville has signed a content distribution deal with MySpace.  Minyanville Publishing and Multimedia will provide MySpaceTV with all episodes of its animated financial news show.

Berger Joins Bankrate as VP of Online Sales

BankrateBankrate has appointed Dana Berger to a newly created role as vice president of online sales and will report to Don Ross, Bankrate's senior vice president and chief revenue officer. Berger was recently executive director of advertising at Dow Jones Online.

GFN.com Launches New Website

GfnGFN.com has been given a new facelift while broadening its content offering to include more business blogs and stock market news.  It has also relaunched its professional directory giving LGBT-friendly professionals free listings through April 30. Founded by Walter Schubert, GFN.com recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary as the first financial portal targeting the LGBT community.
