24/7 Wall St. Rates Online Financial Sections at Top 25 Newspapers

247wallst Douglas A. McIntyre of 24/7 Wall St. has rated the online financial sections at the top 25 newspapers in the United States based on their circulation as of March 31, 2007 taken from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.  The sections were graded from A to F using five criteria, including: 1) strength of content, 2) ease of use and navigation, 3) use of new web technology including comments sections, message boards, and multimedia 4) lay-out, and 5) presence of a strong set of current advertisers.  Receiving the highest grades were the online financial websites for New York Times, Houston Chronicle, and St. Petersburg Times.

Yahoo Finance Offers Free Real-Time Quotes

Yahoofinance Yahoo Finance has begun offering real-time stock quotes through a partnership with Bats Trading, a company that advocates free distribution of market data to all participants.  Supported by a consortium of broker-dealers, Bats Trading was started as an alternative to the major exchanges in 2005 after a number of independent ECNs and electronic exchanges were acquired by NYSE and Nasdaq.  The real-time stock quotes reflect trades that are settled by Bats Trading and not those by the major exchanges.

Forbes.com Launches New Markets Channel

Forbescom Forbes.com has redesigned its Markets Channel homepage to broaden its coverage of the global financial markets.  New features include a world map, the latest markets bulletins from Forbes.com's studios in New York and London, and analysis from Forbes.com's reporters and columnists.  There is also an entry point to the Forbes.com's stock picking community.

Heart Business Journal for Women Appearing in Print After Going Online

Heartmagazine Heart Business Journal which launched its website last September is set to deliver the premier edition of Heart Business Journal for Women to newstands in Canada and the UK on June 30.  Brenda Wood, the president and chief executive of EKG Marketing Inc., is the publisher of the glossy, bi-monthly magazine that targets professional women.  The website includes interactive tools for subscribers, including Q&A expert forums, message boards, podcasts, and a professional networking community.

Google AdWords Targets Business Websites

Googleadwords Google Adwords is making available a partial list of business websites where its advertisements appear.  Websites that advertisers can now target include those for Barron's, Black Enterprise, BloggingStocks, BusinessWeek, CFO.com, Enterpreneur.com, MarketWatch, Nasdaq, Quote.com, SeekingAlpha, The Wall Street Journal, and Zecco.  

Yahoo Finance Stays on Top

Nielsennetratings According to the latest Nielsen Online and NetView report, Yahoo Finance continues to be the top online financial media destination in the United States attracting 10.8 million unique users for the week ending April 27.  It is followed by MSN Money with 7.2 million users and AOL Money & Finance with 6.3 million users.  Rounding out to the top 10 are CNNMoney, Wall Street Journal Digital, Reuters, Forbes.com, Bloomberg.com, TheStreet.com and Motley Fool.

WSJ Online Launches Journal Women

Wsjonline The Wall Street Journal Online has launched Journal Women, a new section devoted to women in business. and covering three key areas: career, balance and lifestyle.  Career will focus on management and workplace issues.  Balance will spotlight the work-life juggle, comprising family and relationship issues, caring for children and aging parents, pregnancy and maternity leave.  Lifestyle will examine style, health and wellness.  Edited by Francesca Donner and joined by columnists Carol Hymowitz and Sue Shellenbarger, the section will also host community discussion boards, Q&As, videos and polls.

.Fox Networks Launches Financial Ad Network

Worthnet News Corp.'s .Fox Networks has launched Worthnet.Fox, an online financial ad network with about 30 web site publishers including those from the Wall Street Journal Digital Network which is also owned by News Corp.  With an emphasis on Latin America and other emerging economies, Worthnet.Fox will also be recruiting independent website publishers.  Worthnet.Fox will essentially be the financial advertising arm of .Fox Networks, which currently represents online advertising inventory outside of the United States.

UTVi.com Adds More Features to Beta Website

Utvi UTV Group has added more features to UTVi.com.  Still in beta and partnering with Disney's ABC Network, the business news website which focuses on India's financial markets has added moderated guru blogs, personal finance articles and mobile products.
